WASHINGTON, D.C. July 21 (DPI) – Chris Wallace of Fox News deftly handled Trump in a long and rambling interview in which the President proudly declared that he passed a cognitive test for dementia patients.
Readers of course had a field day alternately hooting and bemoaning the daff US president, whose re-election prospects, as of now at least, appear nil. The media too pointed to the weekend interview with Fox – previously a fawning supporter of the president – as another sign that Trump isn’t up to the job, and may not even care now if he gets a second term.
As one comment put it: “The best advertisement for a Joe Biden Presidency is a Donald Trump interview.”
Trump now trails Biden by double digits in all national polls, and even once-secure red states like Texas may be up for grabs, a development unthinkable only months ago.
Aaron Blake of The Washington Post, in a column yesterday, focused on the Fox interview and how it portrayed a typically bombastic and tergiversating Trump. More than 7,400 reader comments -none of them defending Trump – followed.

Kudos to Chris Wallace of fox not allow trump to lie without being fact checked. Sadly this presentation will not likely change the mind of many fox news viewers. I know common sense and logic evade a lot of Fox “News” viewers.
Go out and ostracize a racial minority, demean an LGBT member, buy yet another gun, support trump, then go to church because you’re a good evangelical.
When you get home, turn Fox back on.
“Wallace shot back: “Well, one of them was count back from 100 by seven.” He began counting: “Ninety-three.”
Gee, the country is in deeper trouble than first thought if the POTUS thinks counting back by 7 is a hard question.
Beneath the content, we could see Trump’s out of controlness, his constantly bubbling temper tantrum, and his slow mental processing, and his compulsion to be right no matter what the facts say. The fact that Wallace kept his cool and maintained his sense of humour just poured salt into a Trump’s open wounds. A very classy performance.
