Nearly 5K Comments Take a Bite Out of WaPo Op-Ed on Bidens’ Dog-Owning Skills

WASHINGTON, DC – March 5 (DPI) – The former executive editor of The New York Times last week penned in The Washington Post an op-ed about the Biden family’s dog problems at the White House. And nearly 5,000 reader comments barked varying degrees of disapproval – about the subject, about the article, even about the author.

Citing recently released Freedom of Information Act disclosures and Wikipedia, Jill Abramson produced several paragraphs reviewing the many dog-biting incidents at the Biden White House, all involving a couple of German Shepherds. Abramson’s conclusion? That the dog owners – The Biden family – are responsible for their dogs’ behavior.

Such an obvious conclusion – based largely on Abramson’s own experience as a “credentialed dog lover” – was met with near-universal sneers from the Post’s reading public.

Both dogs, Commander and Major, have since been removed from The White House.

Abramson’s op-ed left out an interesting line of speculation – that Biden, 50 years in public life, may have regarded the German Shepherds as an important line of security in the Biden family’s daily lives, and that their dogs perhaps are even more trusted than their Secret Security detail. Some readers, in fact, raised this far-fetched point, suggesting the White House security detail that worked for Trump would somehow not be as loyal as the family dogs.

A sampling of the most popular reader comments:

People are saying that dogs protect their human caretakers. Hmmmm, wonder what Commander was saying about the Secret Service members who possibly deleted those 1/6 texts…?

From what I have read Biden refused to let Trump’s SS detail guard him because he understandably didn’t trust them.
More important why is an investigative reporter of Jill Abramson’s caliber writing this warmed over “man bites dog” story when Trump is trying to turn our democracy into a plutocratic theocracy. This story is not nearly enough to be wasting prime space on the WaPo’s website.

The nation is 9 months out from a presidential election which could hand what’s left of American democracy- and the fate of the world- back over to a raging sociopath openly allied with despots in general, and Putin in particular. But hey. what’s important is, is Joe Biden a good dog-dad?

What a weird article. You believe it’s about to start and it ends! Nothing said of substance

Ms. Abramson describes herself as a “credentialed” dog lover.
And I thought all you had to do was love your dog to be a dog lover!
