DC Pols Complaining About Corporate Donations Drying Up; Readers Appalled

WASHINGTON, D.C. Feb. 2 (DPI) – The Wall Street Journal briefly led yesterday with a report that DC politicians – GOP and Democrats alike – are annoyed that corporate donations are drying up after the Jan. 6 Capitol Hill riot. But the report was pushed off the site’s index page within hours, and only a few hundred posts expressed astonishment that political pay-to-play is alive and well.

The comments that did appear, though, made it clear that they viewed such complaints from Capitol Hill as a little more than extortion. The #1 recommended comment:

Well, what we’ve always known is now out in the open – you’ve got to pay to play.  Some of the statements made by lawmakers in this article verge on extortion.

More comments:

So finally the ‘lawmakers’ are admitting they are for sale. Nice.

Money Talks!! Interesting connection.  Funny that it just now is being publicized in such detail.

“Democrats have also told companies that pausing donations from their political-action committees could weaken them politically, ultimately jeopardizing business priorities in Congress, some of the people said.”
For one who doesn’t pay close attention, it could almost sounds like extortion…

All I can say is: good. Seeing both parties complain about not getting corporate funds is fine by me. How about you reach out to your constituents instead? Let the lobbyists lobby just like regular voters do: without bribing them

Translation:
Turn on the money spigot or you’ll never get any of your pet legislation passed.
The brazenness is stunning, but not unexpected. The ultimate pay-to-play.
