WASHINGTON, DC Jan. 11 (DPI) – Iran today admitted it mistakenly shot down a Ukraine Airlines jet, but US readers fought among one another on whom exactly was responsible for the tragedy that killed 176 innocent people.
More than 6,200 reader comments on WashingtonPost.com today reflected literally hundreds of angry exchanges, with the bulk of the most popular comments asserting Trump’s decision to kill a high-ranking Iranian general led to the shoot-down.
The most popular comments on WaPo:
The nation was quite understandably very nervous and made a terrible mistake. I’m sure an apology from Iran is coming; I’m sure the people there feel horrible. Somehow, I don’t think the prime culprit will apologize — he has to go on road tours of low-IQ America.
To bring those responsible to justice? His name is Donald Trump. No one would have been firing missiles if the orange imbecile hadn’t randomly tried to start WW3 (to cover up his shake down of…the president of Ukraine).
Gee, the Iranian Government is more honest and forthright than the Trump Administration again. Americans are in more danger, than Iran, from our own government thugs.
Other news sites – including wsj.com – saw more outrage over US readers’ condemnation of Trump. The most popular comment on that site today:
The (Iranian regime) disclosed on Friday. The missile strike was Wednesday. So, they have waited to see what evidence the western world had. They sent bulldozers to the scene to destroy evidence. They convened the Iranian brain trust to search for a plausible alternative explanation. Even after their best efforts failed, they waited until a citizen published video of the plane as a ball of fire to admit what they had done. I don’t see how this lends any credibility internationally.
