WASHINGTON, D.C. Jan. 22 (DPI) – A Chinese news agency that parrots the views of its rulers in Beijing declared that the “chaotic” US political system has “chronic flaws”, a report that – somewhat surprisingly – no US major media outlet has yet picked up on.
Apparently the Chinese news agency took the unusual step of questioning the virtue of democracy because the Trump administration said China was admitted in 2001 to the World Trade Organization on too-lenient terms.
The American media so far is sitting this one out, and only UK-based Reuters and The Guardian have reported the story.
It’s a curious swipe by the Chinese, given that country’s totalitarian regime could be challenged by popular discontent at any time.
“The western democratic system is hailed by the developed world as near perfect and the most superior political system to run a country. However, what’s happening in the United States today will make more people worldwide reflect on the viability and legitimacy of such a chaotic political system.”
There have been no reader comment threads appearing following the report, which first appeared Sunday.
