WASHINGTON, D.C. April 4 (DPI) – NY Times Columnist Michelle Goldberg wrote a scathing criticism of Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law who has installed himself as the administration’s point man on the pandemic response. Somewhat predictably, her criticism focused on Kushner’s lack of qualifications, experience and record – “Putting Jared Kushner in charge is utter madness,” she declared in her headline.

Readers, almost universally, agreed with her. The most popular among more than 3200 comments:

“Trump’s son-in-law has no business running the coronavirus response.” This x 1000. This should be something that unifies both Republicans and Democrats in Congress. The unfettered power and responsibility Kushner has been allowed to aggregate without question or adequate oversight is truly one of the more disgusting elements of this administration.

Its about time someone called Kushner out. The roles he has been playing are based on pure nepotism. History will record this as a travesty.

It is dumbfounding to observe Trump and his son-in-law wasting precious time treating the state governments as if they were overly-demanding contractors. Here we are on the verge of watching a wave of human tragedy engulf our hospitals and our communities, and all Trump and Kushner can think of is posturing while squeezing the states (which is to say us) to get the best deal. The simple lack of human decency on display here is more than I can understand.

To hear Kushner take a podium earlier today and spout gibberish about analyzing some data and making decisions about allocating equipment from a stockpile that no longer exists and a stock of ventilators yet to be built was astonishing. Kushner is a mile wide and an inch deep. I hope that, now that he has had his moment of presidentially-delegated power, he will disappear or get booted into some corner.
