NYC Transgender Lab Figures Out a Way for Ex-Man to Breast Feed, and Most Readers Are Appalled

NEW YORK, NY Feb. 16 (DPI) – The New York Times reports that a transgender lab affiliated with Mount Sinai hospital has plied a former man with enough hormones to get the person to lactate a small amount of breast milk, a development that struck many readers as an irresponsible publicity stunt.

The biggest victim of it all? Readers said, almost universally, that it was the infant who had to drink the chemical-laden milk.  The researchers, one of whom was described as a “transgender activist”, gave large amounts of an anti-nausea drug called domperidone to the former man, who wanted to breast feed a baby because the person’s partner didn’t want to.

“Damnedest thing I ever read in The New York Times,” wrote one poster. Many comments went out of their way  to say they support transgender rights, but they had a problem with all the bio-engineering: “Just because you can doesn’t mean you should,” wrote one.

The most popular reader comment this morning put it: “This is one giant experiment in hormonal manipulation with little regard to the consequences, both to the parent and to the child.”  Other most recommended comments took the same view: “So you fill a man with drugs, artificially induce lactation and you have people that are actually ok with that? Doctors that actually care about health of people, especially babies, ask women to stay off unnecessary drugs and alcohol because of the harm is does to the baby. Seems there are those more interested in making the tabloids.”
