WASHINGTON, D.C. Mar. 21 (DPI) – Trump telephoned Putin this week to congratulate him on his “election,” the latest bizarre conduct by a president whose loyalties remain in question even after a year in office.

And readers, who for two years have scratched their heads about the man’s behavior and mental health, are showing a weariness about having to even pay attention to Trump and his White House reality show.

Congratulating Putin triggered more blowback than usual from readers. “Seriously?” asked one poster.  “‘Congratulations for winning your own rigged election and thanks again for rigging ours!'”

The highest recommended comment on NYTimes.com received more than 2700 recommended likes in less than 24 hours:

The President of the United States just congratulated the man who imprisons and orders hits on his political rivals, uses proxies to murder American soldiers in war zones, and whose minions attack the American electorate through cyber warfare. Take that in for a moment.

Congratulating the man who just authorized the attempt to subvert your electoral process is a little like phoning the thief who robbed your home to thank him.

Well, is anyone really surprised that he called his boss to congratulate him? One could ask: “how stupid can Trump be”? Well, he really isn’t stupid. He consistently pays homage to this autocratic killer and it seems none of his supporters really care. He does not appear to be paying the price for an insane gesture like that. In fact, he probably envies Putin in that regard. If his lawyers who now claim that FBI and DOJ officials conspired to frame him and more and more people think there is a “deep state”. He is rapidly destroying the fabric that precariously holds our nation together. The Republican Party is, so far, complicit in this terrible tragedy and until they are removed from control of the Congress, there will be nobody home to fight for our Democracy.

Trump congratulates Putin in winning an election where the only opposition of any significance was prohibited from running and where the state has complete control of the media. Is this an act of envy on Trump’s part ?
